In their new paper in Genetics, Brandon Weasner and Justin Kumar describe the contributions that the eye-antennal disc of the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, has made to the field of developmental biology. An image of a Drosophila eye-antennal disc (contributed by Alison Smith and Justin Kumar) was selected for the issue cover of Genetics.
