About the award and lecture series
This annual award and lecture series was established in 2018 to honor former undergraduate and graduate students of the Biology Department who have gone on to make exceptional contributions to fields within the broad umbrella of the biological sciences.
In addition to an honorarium, the recipient will receive a commemorative plaque, will attend an awards ceremony, will present a scholarly lecture of his/her work, and will meet with current faculty members and graduate students. The awarding of this prize will generally occur in the early fall semester so that honorees can reacquaint themselves with their alma mater and participate in the myriad of activities that are taking place on the beautiful Bloomington campus during this exciting time of year.
A committee composed of faculty at IU Bloomington will select the awardees. Current IU Biology faculty members are eligible to forward nominations to the selection committee. Honorees should hold positions within either academia, the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, or a governmental or non-profit agency.
