Being a part of IU’s Biotechnology Program has been one of the most instrumental and rewarding aspects of my scientific career thus far. I first obtained a minor in biotechnology during my undergraduate studies at IU where I gained considerable exposure to diverse research, hands-on training, and the opportunities that a biotechnology degree offers. I then went on to pursue an M.S. in biotechnology. Through rigorous coursework, intensive independent research, and valuable insight from seasoned professionals—I was able to gain the necessary skills to pursue and achieve my career goals.
My time in the IU Biotechnology Program has led me to an exciting career—first as molecular biologist at IHMA working on the global surveillance of antibiotic resistance and then to my current role as scientist, R&D at Abbott, researching and developing assays for relevant infectious disease agents such as Hepatitis B and COVID-19.
