William R. Ogg Fellowship

2021 Ogg Fellow: Katie Beidler

Katie Beidler, a Ph.D. candidate in Professor Rich Phillips' lab, is an ecosystem ecologist who explores the hidden world of roots and fungi to better understand the biotic controls on soil carbon and nutrient cycling. She is interested in the role of root and fungal traits in ecosystem processes and the response of belowground systems to climate change. Her passion for ecology is largely born from its interdisciplinary nature which tries to capture the complex interactions between living organisms and their environment. Katie feels lucky to have met her match—studying the complex and collaborative nature of the belowground world.
