How do new species form? What are the underlying genetic and genomic changes that give rise to the evolution or reproductive isolation?
Research in the Bracewell lab aims to answer these questions by blending aspects of ecology and evolutionary biology with genomics to better understand phenotypic differentiation and the evolution of new species. To tackle our research questions, we take an integrated and cross-disciplinary approach using a combination of fieldwork, lab-based experimental manipulation, and a range of genomic tools and analyses, in both model (Drosophila) and non-model (bark beetles, fungi) systems.
