Postdoctoral Research Position (Staphylococcal RNA biology and antibiotic resistance) at Northwestern University School of Medicine, Chicago, IL.
The Yap Lab in the Department of Microbiology-Immunology invites applications for 1-2 postdoctoral positions in the field of molecular microbiology. We are looking for new team members who share our enthusiasm for ribosome biology and the mechanism of antibiotic resistance in the human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. Candidates who have hands-on experience or are interested in applying deep sequencing technology and ribosome/RNA biochemistry are preferable. Researchers interested in establishing an independent career are strongly encouraged to apply. These backfill positions are available due to the recent transitions of the postdoc trainees to independent and industry roles.
Campus information: The lab is part of the Feinberg School of Medicine located on the lakefront downtown Chicago campus with vibrant basic and translational research community.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, or a closely related field. No more than 2 years of postdoc experience. Previous training in RNA/ribosome biology, enzymology and structural biology is a plus. Candidates with structural biology or bioinformatics training who want to gain wet bench experience are welcome.
Expiration: open until filled with flexible start date between Sep. 2024-Jan. 2026.
How to apply: Applicants should send a Curriculum vitae and the names of three professional references to M.-N. Frances Yap at frances.yap@northwestern.edu.
